Mary Jo Shanklin

Mary Jo Shanklin passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 9, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was born on January 1, 1936, in Cincinnati, OH. Mary Jo attended Lockland High School in Cincinnati, she received two Associates’ degrees in Marketing from Ivy Tech-Indianapolis then a Bachelor of Arts degree from Martin Center College in Indianapolis. Before retiring in 2002 Mary Jo was involved in fostering children, and fostered more than 100 children, she volunteered for Vista and was a member of Americorps. Loved to go on trips with senior circle and visiting Cleveland’s Senior Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Mae Von Hagen, her first husband, Paul Gibeaut, her second husband William Shanklin, son Richard Gibeaut, two sisters; Ruth and Dorothy, two brothers; Ralph and Paul.
Left behind to cherish her memory is Paul Gibeaut (Lorena), Thomas Gibeaut(Margo), Terri Moses(Frank), Eddie Gibeaut, Jeannie Marren(Mick) and Faith LeGrand (Tim). Grandchildren; Timothy, Brian, Cory, Joe, Christopher, Andrew, Tiffany, Paige, Richard, Nicholas and Brooke. Two Great-Grandchildren; Starla and Kathryn.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga.
