Martha Iola Sims

Martha Iola Sims, 92, of Ooltewah, TN passed away on January 10, 2017. She was born on April 5, 1924 to the late Jessie and Bessie Smith. She was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church where she enjoyed spending time with her Sunday School Class and the “Meadow Larks.” Martha also enjoyed genealogy and wildflowers, but most of all spending time with her family.

In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her husband Louis H. Sims Sr.; sisters: Helen, Ollie, Buddie, Etta, Minnie, Dorothy; brothers Robert and “Son.”

She leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons Jonathan Sims (Niki) and Louis Sims (Dayle); two grandchildren David Sims (Whitney) and Zachary Sims (Heather); step-grandchildren Tim Jahnke and Steve Jahnke; three great grandchildren: Brantley, Bryler, and one yet to be named that is due in July; step great grandson Trenton Jahnke. In addition to these, she leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday January 12, 2017 at Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland, TN 37311 with Rev. Al Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
