Mark Alan Saxon

July 15, 1959 — December 23, 2020

Mark Saxon, 61 of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away at his home,
Wednesday December 23,2020 after being diagnosed with cancer in late
November. Born on July 15, 1959 in Fayette County, Indiana to the late
Maurice J. Saxon and Wilma Saxon, Mark was a 1977 graduate of
Connersville High School. He participated in Basketball and Track and
Field, holding the CHS record of 7'3" in the high jump until recently.
While attending Cumberland College on a full athletic scholarship, he
placed 4th at finals in National competition. Mark was a Special
Education Teacher, and Financial Specialist, but his passion was the
water. An avid whitewater paddler and river guide, he opened the Summer
Olympics in 1996 kayaking the slalom on the Ocoee River in Tennessee. He
worked at Cumberland Falls Rafting and later managed Ocoee Outdoor
Adventure. Anyone that was a Paddler of Whitewater knew Mark Saxon as
one of the best in the country. Mark's kindness and humor, and that
sparkle in his eye while telling stories will be missed by all. "Love
the Life you Live and Live the Life you Love". He loved the River, his
Friends and his Life in Tennessee. Keep your faith strong and "Be Kind"
as in everything we will get through this life one day at a time.
Survivors include his sisters, Laura Saxon Weite of Connersville, Marsha
Saxon Petty of New Castle, Sharon Saxon of Maricopa, Arizona and niece
Kelly Jimenez of Phoenix, Arizona along with two great nieces and a
great nephew. Out of love, and respect for his wishes no memorial
service will be held at this time. Memorial Donations may be made to
Fayette County Cancer Society PO Box 480 Connersville, In.47331
