Marie Fonde

Marie Fonde, 84, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 3, 2017. She was born on December 4, 1932 in Charlotte, NC, to the late Thomas and Dollie Rodden. Marie worked for many years as an Executive Secretary for Life Care Centers of America, even winning the "Secretary of the Year" award in 1995. Marie was frequently volunteering her time to help others, often volunteering at Tennessee Oncology Center with Dr. Sylvia Kreuger. Marie was also involved with the American Legion Auxiliary since 1975 and with the Cleveland/Bradley USBC Bowling association for many years. She was awarded the Kentucky Colonel award in 1980 and Bowler of the Year in years 1996 & 2003. Marie will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Fonde; children, Franklin Thompson and Donna Worthington; and brother, Carl Rodden.
Marie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving son, Gary Thompson and wife, Sarah, of Murphy, NC; step-son, Chris Fonde of Sarasota, FL; 8 adorable grandchildren; 6 most beautiful great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Rodden, of Cleveland, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Mary Thompson, of Franklin, NC; three step-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday October 6, 2017 from 11:00am from 12:30pm at Companion Funeral Home, located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37311.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held at 12:30 at the funeral home, with Pastor Chip Hammonds officiating the service.
Following the service, there will be a 2:30pm graveside service at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Douglas.
