Loye Vaughn Hamilton

February 25, 1938 — November 3, 2017

Loye Vaughn Hamilton, 79, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Friday November 3, 2017. He served in the US Army, where he was deployed in Germany for a year. Once returning to the states, he became an owner of Callaway Grocery. After years with that company, he opened up Hamilton Food Center on North Ocoee Street. Loye went on to open a Coldwell Banker franchise in 1980, where he worked up until his passing. He was known for being a diligent and hard worker, always encouraging and inspiring those who worked for him. He always enjoyed investing back into Cleveland and Bradley County by volunteering his time on various boards and commissions. He was a former member of the Planning Commission, Board of Realtors, and the Chamber of Commerce. Loye was awarded the Mel Bedwell Small Businessperson of the Year Award in 2004. He was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Cleveland and a member of the Elks Lodge. Loye was loved by many throughout his life and will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacquelyn Hamilton; son, Randy Bernier; and parents, C.L. “Shan” and Florence Maddux Hamilton.
Loye leaves behind to cherish his memory, loving children, Lori Boring (Greg), Dawn McLemore (Kirk), Alison Nieto (Andy), and Jeff Bernier; grandchildren, Will & Ben Rice, Chloe & Abby Howell, and Audrey & Wade McLemore; siblings, Frances Pierce (Mike), Jackie Hamilton (Sharon), Joye Goodner (Jim), Juanita Eldridge, Carl Hamilton (Ann), and Bill Hamilton (Debra); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, November 6, 2017 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the First Baptist Church, located at 1275 Stuart Road NE, Cleveland, TN.
A celebration of life funeral service is planned for 11:00am on Tuesday November 7, 2017 at at the church with Pastor Jeff Lovinggood officiating the service.
Following the service, Loye will be laid to rest in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, beside his late wife, Jacqueline.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Generation’s Fund at the First Baptist Church.
