Lisa Annette Miles Coulter

18 September 1965 - 29 August 2022

KwietRiot was indeed quiet with most people, but she was alive & animated with those of us who loved her & whom she admitted to her select circle of intimates. She always claimed to be a woman of average intelligence who maximized her God-given talents with hard work & the hard-driving work ethic she learned from both of her parents, Jay & Shirley Miles. I knew the truth however; she was brilliant & insightful with an Irish twisted humor that would present at the oddest moments, much to my delight.

While she shunned interaction with most strangers, Lisa embraced some strangers with the love that was truly at the core of her being. Following her initial cancer diagnosis in 2006, Lisa embraced complete strangers who were engaged in the same battle for life that she was. These fellow warriors truly became her family with all of the privileges that come with this adoption. After more than a decade in remission, the cancer returned with a vengeance, advancing to attack her lungs & her brain. With an independence she had embraced her whole life, Lisa revealed her renewed fight to very few friends, preferring to spare them the worry & heartbreak that she had embraced once again.

While cancer played a major role in her life, Lisa is defined by much greater metrics & achievements. In 1993, she gave birth to Meghann Brianne, a wunderkind who has ever been the focus of her encouragement, affection & admiration. While Lisa held numerous jobs in public accounting, in corporate accounting & in federal employ, she found her heart was most content in Chattanooga's Barto Hoss & Company. While she embraced most of her coworkers, two of her oldest friends, Mike Barto & Doug Hawks ever came to mind when she related fond & comical stories away from the office.

My own favorite times with Lisa were road trips when I would drive & she would select our music & jabber away about her thoughts, dreams, ideas & desires. I was content to bask in her light & was ever delighted that while she was light years ahead of me in intellect & creativity, she somehow loved me. I was content to watch Hallmark movies with her, thrilled to cook for her & in her illness, I have been humbled by the opportunity to demonstrate my love in service, caring for her.
Throughout her battles with cancer, Dr Davy Daniel was ever her bulwark; always in the fray with her, directing her attacks & encouraging her when she wearied of the fight. The staff at Memorial Hospital have been angels of mercy, living up to the mission of the founders, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth

After a long hard-fought battle with cancer, Lisa fell on the field with her boots on. Ever the stalwart warrior, Lisa never gave ground & she fought valiantly to the end. I have cried every day since that fateful Friday when we were told that the enemy had encroached into inviolable places which could no longer be defended. Lisa remained strong when I was weak; the wounded hero comforting me... she is now asleep in Jesus, waiting for the shout of the archangel when she will be raised up incorruptible to live her forever friendship with Jesus... and those she has left behind today.
Shea Yeager & I were praying with her & submitting her to God's care
as she drew her last breath at 0744hrs. She has won the race & rests in our Saviors embrace!

Lisa was preceded in death by her father, James Clifton Miles & by her mother, Shirley Ann Miles
She is survived by her daughter, Meghann Brianne Bledsoe & by her husband, David Paul Coulter
& by the many friends whose lives she has touched.
