Linda Varnell D'Armond

Linda Varnell D'armond, 82, a native of Cleveland, died Friday October 29th, 2021, at a local assisted living community. She was born in Cleveland and moved with her family across the US as her father served as a Colonel in the Army. Linda graduated from Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, California. She returned to Cleveland and attended Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens. She later earned her Associate of Science degree at Cleveland State Community College. Linda worked at the Bradly County Clerk's Office, and for a law firm in Chattanooga as a legal secretary. Linda was also well known in Cleveland as the elegant lady at the perfume counter at Miller's and Belk. She had a beautiful soprano voice and loved to sing. She sang in the choirs at Tennessee Wesleyan College, Broad Street United Methodist Church, and later at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Linda had 3 daughters and 3 grandsons whom she loved very much. She often visited her daughter Missy, son in law Tony and their boys Derek and Grant in Oklahoma where "Mimi" was known as the fun and cool grandma. She was a world traveler. She went to Scotland with Missy and Tony and loved exploring her McDonald ancestry there. Linda also traveled to Ireland twice, France, Spain, and Jerusalem among other places. She loved to spend time with her daughter Lee, son in law Robert and grandson Dylan here in Cleveland.
Linda was the daughter of the late John Franklin Varnell and Augusta Easterly Varnell. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Eldridge D'armond III; daughter Melinda Grace D'armond; and sister Trudy Varnell.
Survivors include her daughter Lee D'armond Loveridge (husband Robert), grandson Dylan Loveridge of Cleveland; daughter Missy Nankivell Benear (husband Tony) of Edmond, OK; grandson Grant Alan Benear (wife Jenna) Huntsville, AL; grandson James Derek Benear of Warr Acres, OK; brother John F. Varnell of San Jose, CA; 3 nieces; 2 nephews and several beloved cousins.
The Celebration of Life will be held at Companion Funeral Home on Saturday Nov.13th. The family will receive friends from 1:00 -3:00pm and the service will be held at 3:00.
