Linda Joan Arden

August 16, 1943 — May 9, 2019

Linda Joan Phillips Arden of Niota, Tennessee, age 75, went home May 9, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born August 16, 1943, in Sweetwater, Tennessee, to the late Jack and Cora Lee Schrimsher Phillips. She was a member of Murray’s Baptist Church and attended Cedar Valley Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Bobby Arden, sisters – Carlene Ballew and Shirley Kyle, brothers – Charles Edward Phillips, Dennie Phillips and Doug Phillips.
Survivors include children and their spouses: Cindy and Kenny Benton of Athens, Duwayne Arden of Athens, Linda Arden of Niota, Chris and Ginger Arden of Riceville, and Michael and Ammie Arden of Niota; Nine grandchildren: Jessica (TJ) Wilson, Jeremy (Brooke) Benton, Matt (Ashli) Arden, Krista Arden, Emily (Josh) Brown, Zach (Hailey) Arden, Hannah (Dakota) Reynolds, Wyatt Arden and Marley Arden;. Eight great-grandchildren: Jade, Addie, Kallie, Jude, Connor, Zoe, George and Journey; Sisters: Lois (Robert) Goodman, Wanda Presley, Brenda Phillips, Jackie (Harold) Ervin, Verna (George) Paul, Debbie (Sammy) Baines; Brothers – JD (Sandy) Phillips and Jimmy Phillips; Sister-in-law Dawn Phillips and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank NHC of Athens and Hospice of Chattanooga for caring for our loving mother, grandmother and sister during this difficult time.
There will be a graveside memorial on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Murray’s Baptist Church Cemetery, in Sweetwater, TN with the Reverend Joel Tilson officiating. The family will meet at the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 PM and go in procession to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Chattanooga at 4411 Oakwood Drive in Chattanooga, TN 37416.
