Leroy Walter Richmond

Leroy Walter Richmond passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, he, and his family moved to Cleveland, Tennessee in 1970. He was a Christian man with deep faith, and he was also a soldier for his country. He served eight years in the US Navy as a Jet Engine IMA Technician, and he cross trained with the US Air Force, where he earned several medals and commendations, including the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Navy Expeditionary Medal. Leroy also earned two Good Conduct Longevity Service awards.

After the military, he returned to Cleveland and worked at Bradley Memorial Hospital in supply and distribution. Later he was employed at Moccasin Bend Hospital in security and eventually as the head procurement liaison. Leroy was active in his community, serving with the volunteer fire department as well as a reserve deputy sheriff.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sonya Richmond, and his father, Millard James Richmond. He is survived by his sister, Colleen Richmond Nunley, and nephews, Buck Lawson, David Lawson, and Allen James Lee of Cleveland.

Interment will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Thursday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. with full military honors provided by the United States Navy.
