Leroy Bowman

Leroy Bowman, 88, of Charleston, TN, passed away February 5, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family. Born August 20, 1933, to the late Luther and Cora Bell Bowman in Chattanooga, TN. Leroy was a faithful member of Westwood Baptist Church where he served his Lord & Savior as a Deacon, chairman of church security, worked with the youth, and comforted many pre-school children as he walked and rocked them at Westwood. He wore many hats as a timber cutter, drove big trucks and school buses, heavy equipment operator, and loved raising a large garden.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Wilburn and Jimmy Bowman; sisters, Rosalee Hill, Edna Jenkins, Irene Mowery, Mary Cranfield, and Agnus Bowman.

Survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Geraldine (Geri) Bowman; son, Mitchell (Mickey) Bowman; daughter, Tanda (Melvin) Walker; grandchildren, Amanda (Tim) Burnette, Brittany Keith, Kyle (Jordyn) Walker, and Blake Walker; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Gavin, Kendall, Hudson Burnette, Landon and Bryson Bowman, Bradley and Audrey Walker; brothers, Freddie and James Bowman; sisters, Velma Childs and Lois McDowell.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM, Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Westwood Baptist Church, followed by the service at 7:00 PM. Pastor Nolan Phillips, officiating. Burial will be held at New McDonald Cemetery, Friday, February 11, 2022, at 11:00 AM. Pallbearers will be Kyle and Blake Walker, Landon and Bryson Bowman, Cooper and Gavin Burnette.
