Obituary for Larry Wendell Roberts

Larry Wendell Roberts nicknamed Joe, 63, of Etowah, Tennessee, passed away on June 2, 2023, at his residence in Etowah. He was born on January 26, 1960, in Athens, Tennessee, to Paris and Eula (Hampton) Roberts.

Larry was a man of many passions. He found solace in whittling wood with his knife, a hobby that brought him great joy. He lived in the area his whole life and had a deep appreciation for nature, often spending his time fishing and immersing himself in the beauty of the outdoors. Larry also had a fondness for western movies, finding inspiration and entertainment in the tales of the Old West. However, his greatest love was undoubtedly spending time with his loved ones. Larry's outspoken nature made him a vibrant presence in their lives, and he was always there to offer his support and lend an ear. Alongside his dedication to his family, Larry worked as a dairy farmer throughout his entire life, leaving a lasting mark on the community.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Beth Ann Roberts, and his son, Derrick Roberts. He also leaves behind his sister, Shirley Thomas, and his grandchild, Nova Roberts. Their memories of Larry will forever be cherished, as he held a special place in their hearts.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Paris and Eula Roberts, as well as his siblings: Gene Roberts, David Roberts, Red Roberts, and Francis Allman. Their passing earlier in his life has undoubtedly left a void, but Larry now joins them in eternal peace.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Companion Funeral and Cremation Service, Athens Chapel. At this time, the family has chosen to hold a private memorial for Larry, with plans for a larger gathering to be held at a later date. During this period of remembrance, may we all find comfort in the cherished memories of Larry Wendell Roberts, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
