Kenneth Orrin Purdie

Kenneth Orrin Purdie, 36 of the Lamontville Community passed away on October 12, 2022. Orrin was born on February 18, 1986. He graduated from Walker Valley High School in 2004, from ETSU with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing Communications and a Minor in Business Management in 2008, and he went on to Cecil C. Humphrey’s School of Law at the University of Memphis where he earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.).

He loved life and lived to the fullest. He was happiest on the farm and spending time with family, friends, and his beloved dog Rousseau. He enjoyed traveling and especially loved South Africa. He was always the first to help a friend and had an unforgettable personality. He practiced law in the Memphis area for several years and most recently in Athens, Cleveland, and Ooltewah areas. He enjoyed serving many with his knowledge and passion for justice. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed studying and discussing God’s word. He would always say mom “I am so blessed”.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Gordan and Margaret Fugate, paternal grandparents Malcom and Geraldine Purdie, uncles Doug Fugate and Jerry Fugate, and aunts Cindy Matthews and Patricia Richesin.

He leaves behind his parents Kenneth and Loretta Purdie of the Lamontville Community, sister Lauren (Matthew) Walker of Kingston, TN, his loving girlfriend Jessica Baxter, aunts Della (Phil) Liner, Carmen Fugate, Regina Fugate, uncles Beauford (Kathy) Fugate, Bobby (Caroline) Fugate, Hurshul Richesin, Alan (Pam) Purdie, Bryan (Nell) Purdie, J.B. (Tina) Purdie, Sid (Terri) Purdie, cousins Randy Richesin, Shaun Fugate, Andrea Broadway, Cameron (Sara) Liner, Adam Fugate, Tyrel Purdie, Amanda Fugate, Tessa (Jon) Workman, Nathan (Ashley) Fugate, Matt Purdie, Ashley (Dustin) Guthrie, Chelsea (Andy) Jones, Mary (Junior) Basinger, Parker (Morgan) Fugate, Caleb (Samantha) Purdie, Ashley Matthews, Aaron (Gracie) Matthews, Jeremy Chastain, and numerous friends and colleagues.

The family will receive friends from 4-7pm Monday, October 17 at Ridgeview Baptist Church located at 1501 South Ocoee Street Cleveland, TN. A service will follow at 7pm with Ken Purdie officiating.

Graveside service will be Tuesday, October 18 at 11:00am at Calhoun Cemetery. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. You are invited to share a personal memory of Orrin or your condolences with his family at his online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com.
