Kenneth Dale Chavous

June 19, 1949 — December 23, 2019

Kenneth D. Chavous passed away on December 23, 2019. He was 70 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow O. Chavous and Betty L. Chavous, his grandparents, Oliver and Florence Chavous, and a brother, Woodrow Allen Chavous, all of Augusta, Georgia. His wife, Judy C. Chavous, the love of his life, passed away in June 2017.

Survivors include: His daughter, Katie C. Roddey (Russell), his stepson, Christopher Peak (Leslie), stepdaughter, Kar-el Zirk (Randy), a sister, Danny Chavous-Bowen (Clarence), and a brother, Marvin Lester Chavous (Charlotte). Also surviving him are two grandchildren, Faith and Dylan Roddey, a niece, Leslie C. Williams (Travis), two nephews, Samuel and Joshua Chavous, and a great-niece, Rylee Williams.

“Ken” was born in Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, the son of a US Marine. He lived most of his young life in Augusta, Georgia, graduating from Butler High School, Class of “67”, furthering his education with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1976. He moved to North Georgia and worked in an industry which supported the United States Space Shuttle program. He later moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where he met his late wife, Judy. During those years, he worked as a long-haul truck driver for the automotive industry until he became permanently disabled.

He loved his God, his country, his family, his little dog, “Coco”, and his “DAWGS”. All of his adult life, he was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs! When he loved, he loved deeply; when he gave, he gave abundantly; and when he had to fight the battles of his life, he fought bravely.

We will miss “Ken” more than any words can adequately express.
