Karen Winona “Katy Belle” Scott was born on the first day of summer in 1959...and passed away on the last day of July 2017.
The precious and beloved daughter of Howard and Clara Scott (both deceased), she retained the mind, meekness, and simplicity of a child throughout all her 58 years. She spent many wonderful years on the family farm in Rabbit Valley. And although it is doubtful that she could have told you anything at all about the grand doctrines of the Bible, this life-long member of the Church of God had a childlike faith in Jesus that far surpassed all of earth’s finest theology. She knew that Jesus loved her (for the Bible told her so), and she loved Jesus, too. If heaven ever heard a prayer, Karen’s prayers were heard, for they came from a pure soul that was “trusting, fully trusting” in her Savior’s love.
In eternity, our dear Karen will far exceed this world’s greatest perfections, for she will have a glorified mind and body, and no longer will Down Syndrome have any role at all in defining our precious niece, cousin, sister, and friend. Her life was a meditation on what it means to be content with whatsoever things we have.
The Scott family gives thanks to the Lord for allowing us the privilege of having Karen as one of our own…and for His tender mercies in taking her to Himself when this life no longer held any value to her. We look forward to seeing our sweet Karen again. Karen is survived by DeWayne and Rhonda Scott (brother and sister-in-law), along with a number of uncles, aunts, and cousins from the extended Scott family.
A graveside service will be held at 5:00pm on Thursday August 3, 2017 at Moore’s Chapel Cemetery. You are invited to share a personal memory of Karen or your conodolences with her family at her online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral and Cremation Service and the Cody family are honored to assist the Scott family with these arrangements.
