Joy Elizabeth Vallandingham

Joy Elizabeth Vallandingham, 40, of Rossville, GA entered the presence of our Savior on September 21, 2020.
Born May 5, 1980, Joy was the youngest child of Harold and Naomi (Abbott) Vallandingham. In addition to her parents she is survived by one brother, Bryan (Michael Kline) Vallandingham, of Wheelersburg, OH; one niece, Kylie Vallandingham, of South Webster, OH; four aunts, Verna Dell (Don) McClintick, of Tonkawa, OK, Barbara (Tom) McElfresh of Lexington, SC; Irma Vallandingham, of Florence, KY, and Kathie Vallandingham, of Cincinnati, OH; one uncle, Connie (Mary) Abbott, of Sun City Center, FL; many cousins; and her three best friends who were like her sisters, Esther Nutt of Rossville, GA, Roxanne Carroll, of Rossville, GA, and Shanna Bradley, of Chattanooga, TN.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Raymond and Cathleen (Richardson) Abbott and Robert and Reesa (Atkins) Vallandingham; one aunt, Mary Vallandingham; and two uncles, Robert “Bob” Vallandingham, and Bennie Vallandingham.
Joy’s smile and laughter could fill a room and brighten the day of each person with whom she came in contact. She was active in many areas at Oakwood Baptist Church in Chickamauga, GA, but working with the youth and mentoring the young ladies was most dear to her heart.

She was a 2002 graduate of Tennessee Temple University, where she earned her Bachelor of Education, and a 2010 graduate of Clarion University, where she completed her Master of Library Science. Most recently she was employed with Wilkins’ Research Services, LLC in Chattanooga, TN.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, September 27 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Oakwood Baptist Church, 115 Oakwood St., Chickamauga, GA 30707 with the memorial service starting at 6:00 PM, Pastor Allen Farris officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, OH at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the teen mission program at Oakwood Baptist Church, 115 Oakwood St., Chickamauga, GA 30707.
