Joseph Summerfield Roberts, Jr.

Joseph Summerfield Roberts, Jr., passed on Sunday, May 21, 2023. He was a native of Athens and a resident of Riceville, TN for the last 19 years. He was the son of the late Joseph S. and Lula Roberts.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Jo Ann Roberts.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol Faris Roberts; daughter and son in law, Lauren and Brian Jefferson; son and daughter in law, Justin and Star Roberts; and grandson, Liam.

Joe was an Eagle Scout under the late Professor Powers Troop 116. He was a 1974 graduate of TWU. He was the owner and president of Roberts Brothers Motors, Inc, for 30 years until his retirement in 2016. Joe was an avid audiophile, sports car enthusiast, and lake lover who camped frequently after his retirement.

There will be a celebration of life at McMinn Memorial Gardens on Friday, May 26, at 10:00 AM with Michael Jackson officiating.
