Johnny Leon Woodruff

April 24, 1958 — November 27, 2021

Johnny Leon Woodruff, age 63, formerly of Apison, passed away Saturday, November 27 of 2021. After growing up in Collegedale, he was a graduate of Southern Adventist University in 1983 and went on to co-own and operate Woodruff & Son Plumbing with his father. In 1994, he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Memphis, which began his 25-year career as a civil litigation attorney. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and served as a deacon. Johnny was best known for his boisterous laugh and his love of antiques, rock climbing, cowboy boots, fitness, history and debating. He is preceded in death by his parents Nathan Leon and Jewell Kathryn Taylor Woodruff and sister Mary Helen Benson. Along with many family and friends, he is survived by his college sweetheart and wife of 38 years, Lisa and his son Taylor. Funeral services will be held on December 17, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga, 554 McCallie Avenue. The family will receive friends from 10-12PM with a funeral service to immediately follow. Lisa and Taylor would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to every member of Johnny’s care team and to their friends and loved ones who have sent their condolences.
