Johnny Allen "John" Boyd

Johnny Allen “John” Boyd, 56, a lifelong resident of McMinn County passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018 in a Chattanooga hospital. John was born on January 13, 1962 in Athens, Tn. He was of the Baptist faith. John was an all-around handy man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
John is preceded in death by his father Donald Boyd, sister in law Karen Boyd and grandparents Lonnie & Opal Boyd and Willard & Alzena Womac.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Cynthia Boyd, two sons Mick Boyd and Travis Boyd, one daughter Kelly Boyd Wilcox, mother Geraldean Shaver, two sisters Deb Boyd and Janet Heifner (Marty), two brothers Charles “Bub” Boyd (Teresa) and Jerry Boyd, step brother William “Pug” Shaver, four granddaughters Addie Wilcox, Melody Wilcox, Lille Wilcox and O’Dessa Boyd, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A celebration of John’s life is planned for Friday, December 28, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the Athen’s chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 400 S White Street with the Reverend Gary King officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 PM until the 7:00 PM service time.
The interment and committal service is planned for Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Short Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Jeremy Edwards, Chase Boyd, Jeremy Fairbanks, Nicholas Fairbanks, Mick Boyd and Rick Hudson serving as pallbearers.
