John Joseph Hufschmid

September 11, 1939 — December 19, 2015

John Joseph Hufschmid, 76, passed away in Chattanooga, TN December 19, 2015. He was born September 11, 1939 in Tomahawk, WI to the late Aloysius L. and Viola Hufschmid. John was a Veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country from September 12, 1957 until August 17, 1959. He was an amazing husband and father to his family. John was a very kind and compassionate man who lived life to its fullest. He was interested in ham radios, computers, and loved animals.

Along with his parents, John is preceded in death by his mother in law, Penny Martin and a sister in law, Kim Saenz.

John leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 39 years, Jackie Martin Hufschmid; two sons, James and Mark (Margaret) Hufschmid; one sister, Phyllis (DeDe) Amelse; three grandchildren, Michael, Michelle and Jessica Hufschmid; and one great-grandchild, Kimberly Hufschmid.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Wednesday December 23, 2015 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors. Family and friends are invited to arrive at Chattanooga National Cemetery no earlier than fifteen minutes prior to service time.
