John “Jack” F. Gilmore, 85, a current resident of Chattanooga, TN, formerly of Illinois passed away peacefully at home with family on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. He was born October 21, 1932 in Passaic, New Jersey. Jack was a dedicated veteran who served our country during the Korean War and lived his life well; each day in quiet strength, dignity, and respect of his family and all who serve as police officers and veterans. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Edith Gilmore; son, John Robert Gilmore; brother, Mickey Gilmore.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 41 years, Marie Gilmore; children, Linda, Michelle (Craig), Chris (Lisa), and Danielle (Jim), and daughter-in-law Mary; grandchildren, Christopher, Brianna (Ryan), Brittany, Bailey, Dana, Joe, Natalie and Becca; Cherished great grandchildren, Travis, Brandon, Romeyo, Charlie, Autumn and Ryder Jack.
A Celebration of life will take place in Waukegan, IL in the fall.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Lymphoma Association in Jack’s honor.
