John Edward Marthaler

John Edward Marthaler, 51, of Cleveland, TN, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018.

John was born on January 27, 1967, in Quincy, IL, son of Carol and James Marthaler Sr. He married the love of his life Angela Mull on Sept. 3, 2011. He was a 1986 graduate of West Pike High school and attended the Wichita Automotive and Electronic Institute. He owned and operated Car Care in Cleveland, TN for over 20 years.

John loved to spend his time hunting, fishing, cheering on his beloved Volunteer football team, and traveling with his family. He was a strong supporter of the U.S. military and an active member of the VFW 2598 in Cleveland, TN, he spent many years helping to orchestrate live music and entertainment. John was best known for his role as a father. He dedicated his life to raising his children with the utmost integrity, morals, and work ethic. His immense love for family included many friends that he considered family. John was known for telling a good joke, many of which were not appropriate for children.

John is survived by his wife, Angela; his parents James and Carol; Daughter Amber (Robert) Price of Denver, CO; four sons, Paul Marthaler, Justin Marthaler, Austin Cox and Tristan Cox all of Cleveland, TN; four grandchildren Rhema, Jocelyn, Kurtis and Tabitha; brothers Michael (Elaine) Marthaler of Colorado Springs, CO, James Marthaler Jr. of Cleveland, TN, Jordan Marthaler of Spokane, WA and Michael (Bree) Roberts of Quincy, IL; sisters Michele Deal of Lebanon, IL, Nita Dewey of Athens, TN, Jennifer Roberts of Quincy, IL; mother-in-law Nancy Goins and Father-in-law Eddie Goins of Cleveland, TN; and many loving cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his brother Tony Marthaler, grandparents Dan and June Marthaler, Percy and Bertha Blentlinger, aunt Teri Marthaler, aunt Gladys Jean Miller, cousin Drew Marthaler, father-in-law Garry Mull.

Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW 2598 in Cleveland, TN Sunday Aug. 19, 2018. Memorials to his wife Angela Marthaler to help with financial expenses can be sent to the Cleveland VFW 2598.
