James Willis Cooper

James Willis Cooper, 86, of McDonald, TN passed away on January 26, 2020. He was born on August 15, 1933 to the late Thomas Luther Cooper and Anna Maude Bailey Cooper. James was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of Philippi Baptist Church. He loved gardening, canning, and cooking. He also loved fishing and his special dog, “Gizmo.”
In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded death by his son in law Kenneth Clements, grandson Keegan Hefner, stepson Danny Davis; sister Laura Belle Couch, brother J.D. Matheny; and nephew Wendell Couch. He is also preceded in death by his previous wife and mother of his children, Shirley Keller.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of (nearly) 48 years, Fay Cooper; son Darrell Cooper (Karen); daughters: Debbie Hefner (Ronnie), Cheryl Clements, Christi Cooper, Angie Black (Ron); grandchildren: Michael (Natalie) Knight, Juddy (Haleigh) Knight, Kisha Knight, Wesley (Amy) Clements, Thomas Clements, Jason Clements, Matthew Black, Jeremy Black, Kelsey (Josh) Skinner, and Adam (Brittany) Davis. In addition to these, he leaves behind nineteen great grandchildren and was expecting his first great great grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday January 29, 2020 at Companion Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Corinth Cemetery.
