James Vernon Hendrix

James Vernon Hendrix met his Savior face to face on January 1, 2021. A native of Florence, AL, he served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He spent much of his adult life in Thompkinsville, KY, where he was employed as an electrical engineer with Tr-County Electric Co-Op. Upon retirement, he moved to Georgetown, TN, and traveled out West as often as possible. James enjoyed playing guitar and singing gospel music. He often performed with his group Holy Smoke for residents at Bradley Healthcare and Rehab Center and attended Cleveland First Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Iola and Vernon Hendrix, and son, Andrew Hendrix.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Vicky Hendrix, brother Benny (Sandy), sister Doris, daughter Bethany Hendrix, grandchildren MaKenzy and Axel Hendrix, and many stepchildren and step grandchildren. He also leaves behind several cousins and extended family members and friends.
A private service, with military honors, will be held for the family. Pastor BJ Miller will preside. James will be laid to rest at the Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.
