James Richard Headrick

James Richard Headrick, 90, died Thursday, November 7, 2019 at his home. He leaves his son, Mickey Headrick, daughters Patty (Robert) Powell and Melissa (John) Giles, his two nieces that he helped raise, Denise Hicks Worley and Rebekah Chadwick Johnson. He has six grandchildren: Kevin (Daphne) Powell, Rickey (Ricko) Headrick, Brittany Headrick, Brandon Headrick, Raven Blevins, and Ethan Tindell. He has five great grandchildren: Jordyn, Dylan, Cayden, Taiyo, and Rian. He has four living siblings: Kathryn Bach, Robert Headrick, Mary Pence, and Mae Craig. He is preceded in death by his parents, William David Headrick and Willie Pluma Headrick, his wife of 54 years, Mary Adlee Headrick, his son Rickey Headrick, his siblings: Emma Lee Jernigan, William Henry Headrick, Billy Ray Headrick, Granvil Eugene Headrick, and David Louis who died at birth. James was born and raised in Pisgah, AL, Henegar, and Valley Head. He lived the majority of his life in North Georgia. He owned and operated Headrick's Garage for over 50 years and was known to be the best mechanic in the area. James was a member of the Baptist faith and served in the church for many years as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He served in the US Navy and was stationed mainly in Alaska. He loved the Lord, his country, his family, his friends and working on cars. He was a successful business owner and was well respected by the community. He loved Ford cars and Nascar. He loved his best friend "Baby Boy", the dog who he had most of his later life. The service will be Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Liberty Baptist Church in Chickamauga, GA at 5pm. with Rev. Mike Angel officiating. Burial will be at National Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Parkside Subacute and Tapestry Hospice for their exceptional care. Hospice allowed him to spend his final days at home. Special thanks to Mickey Headrick for caring for him.
