James Michael Farley

James Michael Farley, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2023, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Born on May 2, 1945, in Jochin, West Virginia, James was the son of the late Daniel and Dolores Farley. Throughout his life, James was known for his intelligence, selflessness, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.

James is survived by his sister, Karen Hogan; his children, Sean Farley, James Farley II, and Thomas Farley, and Gina Colvett; his stepchildren, Jordan Rolen, Jennifer Rolen, and Megan Church; and his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Farley, Cherie Farley, Jayden Farley, Azya Church, and Reagan Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Delores Farley; his sister, Donna Pense; and his sons, Daniel Farley and Charlie Farley.

James was a proud and accomplished manufacturing process engineer, having earned an honorary doctorate in his field. His expertise and dedication to his work were widely recognized, and he was often sought after for his insights and guidance. In addition to his professional accomplishments, James was an active member of the Cherokee Nation of Indians, where he served as a respected judge. His commitment to his heritage and community was evident in his tireless efforts to promote understanding and unity among all people.

A master conspiracy theorist, James had a keen interest in uncovering hidden truths and exploring the unknown. His inquisitive nature and thirst for knowledge were contagious, inspiring those around him to question the world and seek answers. Despite his fascination with the mysterious, James was a steadfast and reliable presence in the lives of his family and friends. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear, or share a word of encouragement.

James will be remembered for his loving nature, his unwavering support of his family, and his dedication to his work and community. His intelligence, selflessness, and loyalty will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 6:00 pm at Companion Funeral Home of Athens with Pastor Mike Crawley officiating. The family will be receiving friends 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm prior to the service.
