James Lloyd Miller

December 29, 1941 — March 31, 2023

James (Jim) Lloyd Miller, 81 years old, of Madisonville, Tennessee, passed away on April 31, 2023, surrounded by his children and grandchildren after a long battle with heart disease.


James was born on 12/29/41 to Thomas Arthur and Mini (Lemmons) Miller in Athens, Tennessee. He grew up in McMinn County with seven siblings on the family farm. Throughout the years, his bright smile and laughter touched many lives. James worked for T.U. Parks Construction Company for many years and loved to engage with colleagues. His work ethic defined him. In addition to his construction work, he ran a flooring business most of his life. He worked diligently to achieve quality for his clients.


He retired from the construction business in 2001 but continued his flooring business for many years. His home was on his childhood family farm, where he enjoyed farming, gardening, and tending to bees. His beloved dog, Bear, was his best friend and companion. He was married to Barbara Aileen Miller for 55 years.


James is survived by his children: Cynthia Kay Price, James Michael Miller, and Stephen Lee Miller; His daughter-in-law Sondra Gail Miller and son-in-law Keith Hnilica; His grandchildren James Nicholas Price, Cody Franklin Price, Caleb Zachary Miller, Caroline Grace Miller, and Kimberly Shawn Skelton; His great-grandchildren include Chelsea Lorine Marcus, Stephen Garrett Hammondtree, Mason Israel Price, and Mia Rose Price.

The family wishes to thank: Dr. Malcolm Foster; the Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Nurses, and staff of Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center; Amedisys Hospice of Cleveland, TN; and his dear friends Albert Hall, Richard and Gail Derrick, and Robert and Tammy Madison.
