James Lans Chase

James Lans (Jimmy) Chase, 79 years of age, passed away peacefully at his beloved Cleveland, TN home surrounded by his family on November 28, 2017.

Jimmy was the son of the late Lillian McKenzie Chase and Dean W. Chase, Jr. of Cleveland. He is survived by his wife, Betty, his children, Beth Bucellatto (Joe) of Cleveland; Lili Houchens (Steve) of Charlottesville, Virginia; and Lans Chase (Drea) of Atlanta. He also survived by his grandchildren Sarah Beth Clayton (Kyle); Chase Ramsey (Andrea); Ruby, Ellie and Camille Houchens; Landon Chase; and his great grandson Wyatt Clayton. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Dean and June Chase along with several nieces and nephews.

After graduation from the Baylor School and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Jimmy was commissioned an officer in the US Navy. He retired from American Uniform in his hometown of Cleveland, TN and went on to enjoy a 2nd career in construction/neighborhood development. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Jimmy’s love for his family and many lifelong friends was immense and that love was returned to him each and every day of his well lived life. Jimmy’s humor, style, gentleness, and loyalty had an immeasurable impact on those he loved. His stories and opinions (whether told by the pool, beach, river, golf course, or his kitchen island) leave his loved ones with cherished memories never to be forgotten.
The family will receive friends at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church from 12:00 to 2:00 Friday, December 1, 2017. A graveside service will follow at Fort Hill Cemetery.
