James "Jim" Craig Elrod

September 17, 1940 — April 14, 2016

James “Jim” Craig Elrod, of Chattanooga, passed away April 14, 2016. He was born September 17, 1940, in Murphy, North Carolina to Dorothy Craig and Arthur Joshua Elrod. Jim graduated from Mercer University in Macon, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He was also a member of the Air National Guard Reserves. Jim loved being on the water, fishing, and tending his vegetable garden. He especially treasured every moment with his grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rosa Levata Elrod; his brothers Jerry Elrod (Gail) and Michael Elrod (Cathy); his daughters Lisa Campbell (Scott) of Easley, Sc.; Kim Morrison (Mike) of Newnan, Ga.; Tina Payton (Reese) of Hogansville, Ga; Leah McInnis of Chattanooga, Lauren Kominek (Alan) of Ashland, Ky.; and Jananna Cornett (Gerry) of Chattanooga; his twelve grandchildren, Lauren Pringle (Cody); Wil, Bailey, Mercer, and Gunter Payton; A. J. McInnis; Ben Campbell; Blythe, Lydia, and Sloane Kominek; and Catie Grace and Bishop Cornett; and one great-grandchild, Canyon Pringle.

The family will hold a celebration of Jim’s life. Please contact the family for information.
