James "Jim" Book

James (Jim) Book, 75, a resident of Chattanooga, TN went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Jim was born in Caruthersville, MO on August 27, 1942 to Kitty and Cecil Book.
Jim was a mechanical engineer and served as Project Engineer at US Pipe and Foundry for 34 years. He was a true outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Highland Sportsmen Club and the American Foundry Society. Jim was a member of the Chattanooga LaFayette Emmaus Community and held membership in the Chattanooga Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy. He was a former member of the Clown Unit of the Alhambra Shrine Temple and a former member of Harrison Masonic Lodge.
Calvary Chapel has been Jim and Linda’s home church for the last ten years.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bobby Jo Book.
Jim is survived by his wife Linda Ackerson Book, children and grandchildren. His children include Timothy Wayne Book (Gloria) of Georgetown TN, Taren Jahnae Book Grotsky (Job) of Baltimore, MD, Debra Burgner Smith (Wayne) of Hendersonville, TN, Michele Elizabeth Burgner of Nashville, TN, Grandchildren include Sarah Kaitlin Book, Matthew James Book, Meghan Paige Zook, Matthew John Zook, Asher Joel Grotsky Kallan Ruth Grotsky, Austin Wayne Smith, Colin Everett Smith, Josiah Christopher Cannon, and Noah Elias Cannon. Other beloved family members are Sean and Mary Katherine Cannon of McDonald, TN. and Ann Kathryn Shaffer and Mark Fox of Colorado Springs, Co. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and countless friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 4-6 pm at Calvary Chapel Chattanooga, 3415 Broad Street, Chattanooga, TN. A celebration of his life will follow the visitation at 6 pm.
