James Edward Beard

Airman Second Class James Edward Beard USAF Reitred, “Jim” went home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2020 at the age of 88. The son of George E. Beard Sr. and Fennie W. Beard of Rome, GA. Jim was born on January 18, 1932 in Floyd Co. GA. He was of the Baptist faith and a longtime member of New Union Baptist Church in Georgetown, TN. Jim was the second of four children. Brother George Elmer Beard Jr., sisters Barbara Ann Beard and Betty Lee Brown. He retired from the Air Force after 9 years of serving in multiple positions in several different states and countries. He entered the workforce to work for and retire from Buster Brown. He was active in the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rites, York Rites, and Shriners. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Agnes E. Beard; loving daughter Barbara Sue Morgan who both reside in Georgetown, TN. His granddaughters Heather (Bradley) Walker of Cleveland, TN and Hannah Morgan of Georgetown, TN. Jim enjoyed watching western shows and “war movies/shows,” yelling at the tv during football games (Go Vols) and baseball games (Go Braves) and playing with his great grandson Doc Anthony Walker (2) until Doc’s passing in July.
Family will receive friends on Saturday October 10, 2020 from 2:00pm til 4:00pm at New Union Baptist Church located at 11516 Meadowview Road, Georgetown, TN 37336. A celebration of life service will follow the visitation at 4:00pm and Jim will be laid to rest in New McDonald Cemetery with full military honors.
