Jacob Anthony Lipski

January 20, 2000 — February 13, 2023

Jacob Anthony Lipski, 23, of Ooltewah, TN, succumbed on February 13, 2023, to injuries sustained in a car accident.

Jacob was a beloved son, big brother, nephew, cousin, grandson, great-grandson, husband, friend, and Marine. Born into a military family on January 20, 2000, in Pensacola, FL, Jacob spent his childhood growing up in North Carolina, Florida, South Korea, and Washington. A graduate of Green River College in Auburn, WA, Jacob enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2018 following his fathers footsteps, where he served in the infantry as a machine gunner. He was married to his wife, Marilin Cervantes Lipski, and planned to celebrate their 4 year anniversary on February 18. Jacob was extremely dedicated towards his goals, always ambitious and forward thinking. He began pursuing a Bachelors degree in Business at UT Chattanooga, with a focus on Management Consulting in January of 2023.

Jacob left his mark everywhere he went. He never knew a stranger. He would go out of his way to offer kind words and genuine friendship to everyone he met. He made people who others overlooked feel special. Jacob was a very inquisitive individual and would take the time to learn as much as he could about any topic. Jacob was an adventure foodie. From cobra blood (it’s a Marine-thing—if you know, you know) to lizard to whale sushi, from raw oysters to the spiciest of foods, Jacob shied away from none of it (to include ice cream, which he loved even though he was “lack toes and toddler ants”). Orange chicken, fried eggs and McDonald’s fries were not safe around him. Jacob was an entertainer. Always the life of the party, Jacob knew how to put smiles on the faces of everyone around him. As a big brother, Jacob would entertain his younger siblings for hours with a variety of alter-egos, complete with odd accents and strange mannerisms to match each character. He loved board games with the family. He left us with an unfinished game of Monopoly that, in a testament to his infectious optimism, he was certain he could win (he would not have). Jacob was an avid BMW enthusiast. His car had a custom exhaust that was not quiet. When he was hired to work the early morning shift at Costco, he went around to all his neighbors and asked if the loud exhaust bothered them when he left for work. If it did, he offered to take his wife’s car so it wouldn’t wake them up. Jacob was an amateur power-lifter, and had just registered for his first power-lifting competition to be held this summer. Jacob rolled with the flow, and would make the best of any situation he found himself in (like the time he “accidentally” ran 15 miles, at night, in the Mt St Helen’s wilderness, without a flashlight, escorting an injured runner to the finish line of the Bigfoot 40 Ultramarathon).

Jacob is survived by his wife Marilin Lipski of Ooltewah, TN; his parents Kevin and Lorraine Lipski of Ooltewah, TN; siblings Christopher Sanders, Ethan Lipski, Owen Lipski and Anna Grace Lipski; his two dogs, Chief and Hazel; as well as nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and grandparents spread across the US and Mexico, and fellow Marines serving around the globe.

Jacob was always looking for ways to light up the room with his smile and generosity. Even in the tragedy of his passing, he has been able to share his joy for life with others as an organ donor.

A Celebration of Life will take place Sunday, February 19, 2023, beginning at 2:00 pm, at the Jewish Cultural Center located at 5641 North Terrace Rd, Chattanooga, TN.

A GoFundMe account has been established by Marilin’s employer to support Jacob’s family through this difficult time: https://gofund.me/9d4b217a.
