J.T. Williams

J. T., John Thomas Williams, 91, passed away on Sunday morning, September 2, 2018 in a local hospital. He was born in Whitfield County Georgia on March 2, 1927 the son of the late George & Mary Williams. J.T. was a graduate of BCHS where he played football. He was an avid sports fan always supporting his Atlanta Braves and UT Volunteers. J.T. was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army. He attended and graduated from the National School of Business. J.T. worked for twenty three plus years at Burlington Industries and then went on to sell cars for many years in Cleveland. He was credited for selling the last car at Benton Pontiac Buick of Cleveland and sold the first new Honda at Honda of Cleveland. J.T. was awarded the nationwide top Buick Salesman at one time. He and his wife, Mildred were members of Westwood Baptist Church since 1968.

In addition to his parents, J.T. is preceded in death by one son-in-law Mark Mullins and one daughter-in-law Maria Williams.

J.T. leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of seventy years Mildred Eads Williams, one son Thomas Williams and wife Stephanie, two daughters Linda Mullins and Marilyn McConnell and husband Bill, ten grandchildren Amy Eubanks (Shane), Leslie Cross (Josh), Katie Joves (B.J.), Jonathan McConnell (Meredith), Keegan Cabrera, MyLeah Keith (Max), Kaitie Bolton (Bobby), Madi Lockhart, Ryan Lennon (Katie) and Thomas Lennon (Katie) and twenty two great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous other extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, September 4, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the parlor of the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN.

A celebration of his life is planned for Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The interment service will conclude with military honors.
