Hope C. (Kinser) Hall

June 24, 1934 — February 24, 2023

Hope Carroline (Kinser) Hall, 88 of Cleveland, TN went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, February 24, 2023, surrounded by her family.


Born June 24th, 1934, in Cleveland, TN and graduated from Bradley Central High School, she was a lifelong resident of Cleveland. Hope was a versatile athlete, despite being stricken with polio as a child, exceling in basketball, volleyball and other sports. She attended Lee College, where she received the Most Versatile Award, and completed her BS in Education from Tennessee Wesleyan College. Upon graduation, Hope returned to Lee College as the Women’s Athletic Director, Director of Women’s Intramural Sports and Director of Women’s Health & Physical Education. Her responsibilities covered basketball, volleyball (coach), softball, tennis, table tennis and was sponsor to her beloved cheerleading squad. While at Lee College, Hope met and married the love of her life, William “Ted” Hall. Hope and Ted were married for 61 years and created a family with two children and three grandchildren who adored her.


After her career at Lee College, Hope pursued a life-long calling as a Bradley County educator. In her career, spanning over 36 years, she had the privilege of teaching at Lee College, Oak Grove Elementary, Charleston High School (coaching girls basketball), George R. Stuart Elementary, Arnold Jr High School (girls basketball coach) and Waterville Elementary. But her longest tenure, and perhaps where she is known best, was at Bradley Jr. High School (Ocoee Middle) in Health & P.E. where she showed the love of Christ to thousands of students throughout the years.


Through the years, Hope was involved in many organizations but especially cherished her membership at North Cleveland Church of God where she called the Unity Sunday School class and Peacemakers her second calling.


Hope was preceded in death by her husband, William “Ted” Hall, father, Irvin French Kinser, her mother, Willie Mae (Headrick) Kinser, sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Eugene Harrison, brother Irvin Kinser, brother-in-law, Kevin Kinne, nephew Anthony Sherlin and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Charles and Barbara Young (FL).


Hope is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Brent and Marti Hall of Cleveland; granddaughter Rylee Hall of Cleveland, grandson Reece Hall of Cleveland and granddaughter Raygan (Hall) Lockridge of Greenville, SC (Grant Lockridge, grandson-in-law); daughter and son-in-law Carroline (Hall) and Rocco Iacovelli of Cleveland,; sister and brother-in-law Jimmie (Kinser) and Charles Cooper of Cleveland; sister-in-law Gladys (Kinser) Sherlin of Cleveland; sister-in-law Marilyn (Kinser) Kinne of Cleveland; sister-in-law Jewel Kinser; brother-in-law U.S. Navy Cdr (Ret) Daniel B. Hall Jr of DeBary, FL; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.


Services will be held on Saturday, March 4th at the Dixon Chapel on the Campus of North Cleveland Church of God. A visitation will be from 1-3pm with a memorial service at 3pm and graveside service immediately following at Sunset Memorial Gardens.


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Peacemakers Senior Adult Ministry at North Cleveland Church of God or the Ocoee Region Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
