Harold D. Stanifer

Harold D. Stanifer, 87, of Crossville, Tennessee passed away quietly at home after suffering longtime health issues, Thursday, January 28, 2021.

He was born March 4th, 1933 in Monroe, Michigan and was the son of William and Mae Cora (Mink) Stanifer.

In earlier days, lived with his family on a farm in Monroe Michigan. Harold played acoustic guitar with a small band for local dances and celebrations and was very good dancer himself.

An Army Korean War Veteran with the 24th Infantry Division Fort Stewart Georgia he ranked Staff Sargent. He made his living as a master grinder making precision tools. He became a pro at playing Euchre and Horseshoes winning many Eagle tournaments.
He had a light, easy going sense of humor and enjoyed picnics, celebrations, and being around people. Every Christmas, to his last, he looked forward to making sure his “beautiful bride” received the perfect gift.

He was a lifetime member of VFW Berkley, Michigan Post 9222; Fraternal Order of Eagles, where he served as president, Rochester, Michigan Aerie 2634; and Manasota Elks Lodge 2734 of Bradenton Florida; and member of Rochester Moose Lodge of Michigan.

Harold is survived by his wife, Linda Stanifer; son Gary (Georgia) Stanifer of Madison Heights, Michigan; daughter Dawn (Paul) Finazzo of Clinton Twp, Michigan; son Mark (Jean) Stanifer of Berlin Twp. Michigan; daughter Robin (Todd) Bolton of Spring City,Tennessee; Sue (Jim) Jackson of Marlette, Michigan. son Donald (Joe) Bonno of Lakeland Florida; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great great-grandchild and one brother Richard of Monroe, Michigan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Edith Irby; 2 brothers Roger and Isaac (Zeke); grandson Jeremy (Smiley) Surgener.

Internment with Military Honors will be held at:
Great Lakes National Cemetery
Holly, Michigan
Date to be determined

Following his wishes, there will be no formal service.
