Grady Howard Samples, 75, of Old Fort, TN passed away on May 26, 2017. He was born on August 25, 1941 to the late John and Grace Samples. Grady was of the Baptist faith and a resident of this area for the past 50 years. He was a lifelong educator in Murray County, GA and Polk County. He loved UT football games, spending time in Daytona Beach, and mowing yards. Above all things, he loved spending time with his family-especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by two brothers: Harold and John Samples; sisters Jo Mumaw and Shirley Samples.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Samples; daughters: Kimberly Bishop and Stacey Rongey (David); grandchildren: Justin Rongey (Brooke), Lara Newman (Kevin), and Michael Rongey; great grandchildren: Landry Newman and Annslee Newman. In addition to these, Grady leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends.
A memorial gathering will take place from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Tuesday May 30, 2017 at Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland, TN 37311.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
