Gordon Y Tate

October 24, 1941 — June 15, 2021

Gordon Y. Tate, Jr., 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. He was born October 24, 1941 and was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga.

He was a proud Army veteran, and he enjoyed traveling with friends from the Skylarks Travel Club. Gordon was a graduate of Emory & Henry College, and he valued the friendships he maintained with his Pi Phi Alpha fraternity brothers. He retired from TVA after 35 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Y. Tate Sr. and Aldena.

His memory will be treasured by his sister, Margaret Dean Tate; brother, Bill Tate (Renee); and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, at 1pm at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. The family will be practicing social distancing, and masks will be optional for vaccinated attendees.
