Glenn Lane

June 14, 1931 — March 25, 2021

Glenn “Piggo” Lane, 89, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 25, 2021 in a Chattanooga healthcare facility.
He was born June 14, 1931 to the late Thomas W. Lane and Edith M. McGill Lane. He was the seventh of their twelve children born and raised in Meigs County TN. He attended Gravel Hill School and later attended the National School of Business in Cleveland.
Glenn was a veteran of the Korean War, serving his country from 1952 thru 1954. He worked at the Duplan Corporation, M C Headrick Supermarket, Western Electric and then retired from Bendix Brake after 28 years of service. After retirement, Glenn was always very active doing small engine repairs and handyman projects. He enjoyed mowing lawns and weedeating for his family and friends. He took great interest in researching the history of Meigs County and McInturff Cemetery.
Glenn was a faithful member of Beacon Baptist Church and loved his church family. He enjoyed getting to church early to greet everyone as they arrived. He was the music director for several years before his failing health. Glenn loved reading his Bible, listening to gospel music and spending time with all his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 45 years, Elizabeth Harvey Evans Lane, daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Traynor Hickman; great-granddaughter, Shannon Moses; siblings, and their spouses, Lester and Florence Layne, Jack and Wanda Lane, Burke Lane, Melba and Otis Hickman, Polly and Walter Branham, Ray and Betty Lane, Mary and David Morgan, James Lane, Willie and Ed Brock, and infant sister, Enzinna Lane.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his son, Brad Evans; grandchildren, Lisa & Gene Garner, Ricky Hickman, Mike & Joleen Hickman, Joe & Darlene Hickman, Marta & Fred Ramsey, and Jason Evans; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Allen & Sally Lane; sister-in-law, LaPhene Amos Lane; special niece Louise Hickman.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Companion Funeral Home, with the service to begin at 12:00 Noon in the chapel. Pastor Floyd Boggess, officiating. Burial will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery. Mask will be required for the visitation and service.
