Glee Meredith Tankersley

Glee Meredith Tankersley, 83, passed away on July 16, 2022. She was born on November 14, 1938 to the late Fred Wesley and Jessie Green Mashburn. She loved cooking, visiting with her grandchildren, homemaking, gardening, baking, and flowers. Meredith was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Glen, Willard, Deyo, and Ray, as well as her sister Ruby Walker and grandchildren: Tisha Postelle and Cassie Lewis.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of more than 60 years, Walter Tankersley; children: Daryl (Brenda) Tankersley and Charlene Stiles (Tom Davis); grandchildren: Hannah Lewis (Christopher Curtis), Noelle Tankersley (Harvey Tuggle), Samantha Skelton (Jim), and Clayton Tankersley (Megan); great grandchildren: Bennett, Adeline, Sailor, and Henry.

Meredith’s family will receive friends at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home on Friday July 22nd from 4pm until 7pm with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 7pm with Rev. Mark Reid officiating and Tammy Pyle providing music. She will be laid to rest at Mobile Cemetery in McCaysville, GA at 2pm on Sunday July 24th. Pallbearers will be Clayton Tankersley, Irvin Melton, Duke Hamby, Harvey Tuggle, Buddy Walker, and Billy Walker. Mike Hamby, Jim Skelton, Tom Davis, and Bruce Coleman will serve as honorary pallbearers.
