George Vernon Lewis

Obituary

George Vernon Lewis, 83, a longtime resident of Harrison, TN passed away on Friday, October 10th, 2014 at Deer Ridge Assisted Living in Dayton, TN. He was born on June 21, 1931 in Palmer, TN. Vernon was an honorably discharge veteran of the United States Army after faithfully serving his country during the Korean War. He was of the Baptist faith. Vernon loved to hunt and fish.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Shirley Holmes Lewis and several siblings.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory loving step children of forty plus years Steven Neely (Pam), Carolyn Catchings, Dianne White, Russell Langston (Susan) and Gail Eaton, fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

A graveside service is planned for Wednesday, October 15th, 2014 at 2:30 PM at the Chattanooga National Cemetery and will conclude with military honors.

The family would like to express their thanks to David Zopfi and the staff of Deer Ridge Assisted Living for their excellent care of Vernon over the past eleven years.
