Gene F. Goodroe

Gene F. Goodroe went home to be with the Lord on 01/02/2021. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones. Mrs. Goodroe grew up in the Florence, Alabama area with her mother and siblings.
Mrs. Goodroe is preceded in death by her husband Charles Ray Goodroe and son William Martin Goodroe.
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Jane Goodroe, son Robert (Bob) Leigh Goodroe, daughter In-Law Julie Goodroe, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandkids, and great grandkids.
She married her husband, Charles Goodroe, in October of 1940 while he was working a co-op job with TVA. The couple moved to the Chattanooga area in 1956, where they lived for their 75 years of marriage. She was a member of the Tyner Church of Christ community.
During her life, teaching was a passion that she felt strongly about. She served as an eighth-grade math teacher at Tyner Junior High School for over 18 years. She received her teaching degree from The University of Chattanooga.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Ronald McDonald House or Tyner Church of Christ.
A private service will be held for the family in the coming weeks.
