Gary Wilbur Corwin, age 69, passed away peacefully at his home on March 14, 2020 after a long and courageous fight with cancer. He was born February 19, 1951 on Long Island, NY to Ann and Wilbur Corwin. Gary is survived by his best friend and wife Kathy Pusins Corwin and resided in McDonald, TN. Gary served in the US Navy from 1969-1975, during the Vietnam War.
He was a loving father to Les Reaver (Amanda), Chris Reaver, Kelly Wall (Joe), Jody Henderson (Scott), Carrie Corwin, and Molly Hatcher (Josh). Gary was a caring brother to his siblings Joan, Cheryl, Cathy, Laurie, Dale, Beverly, and Timothy. He was admired by his grandkids by which he bestowed these nicknames upon:
Katerra, Colleen, J.J. (Emilee), Stoney, Maddisoonie, Matt Matt, Iner, Little Man, Babby, Boonakin, Billy, Red, CL, Reno, Cody, and five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Not only was he the All Time Pitcher for family wiffle ball games, he was an avid fisherman, loved spending hours in his woodshop, and harvesting vegetables from his garden. The family thanks the Hospice of Chattanooga Cleveland team and the VA Hospital for their care during this time.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Thursday March 19, 2020 at Companion Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00pm and burial with full military honors will be held at 2:30pm at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
