Eugene Martin

Eugene Martin, 88, a resident of Athens, TN passed away on Tuesday morning, March 17, 2020 at his home. He was born on October 25, 1931 in Decatur, TN a son of the late Ernest & Bertha Martin. Eugene was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid sports fan who loved watching Westerns and flying planes.
In addition to his parents, Eugene is preceded death by one niece Sharon and one nephew Robert.
Eugene leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Barbara Martin, two daughters Stephanie Day and her husband Richard Day Jr. and Sharon Derrick, one son Michael Gennoe, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister Cate Shepherd, one brother Bruce Martin, special cousin Kenneth Torbett, one nephew Mitchell Shepherd, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
The memorial service scheduled for Tuesday evening, March 24, 2020 has been postponed. The family will reschedule that for a later date when they feel it is safe for everyone to attend. Companion Funeral Home of Athens and the family regret any inconvenience that may have caused anyone, but feel that the safety of the family and guests is of upmost importance.
