Eugene "Gene" Canup Jr.

Eugene “Gene” Canup Jr, 75, a longtime resident of Cleveland, TN passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at a local healthcare facility surrounded by loved ones. Gene was a dedicated member and deacon at Bellefounte Baptist Church, along with being very involved in the community as the president of the Charleston School PTO a number of years ago. He loved to bowl, play golf, and do yard work among other things. Gene served his country in the United States Army. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Eugene Canup Sr. and mother, Thelma Turner Canup; daughter, Miranda Canup; brother, David Canup.
Gene leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Cathy Nunnelly Canup; daughters, Michelle Canup, Jennifer (Britt) Griffin; grandchildren, Millie and Ellie Canup; sister, Elaine (Joe) Austin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Bellefounte Baptist Church from 4:30pm-7:00pm. the celebration of life service will be held at 7:00pm following the visitation time.
