Obituary

Ellis J Laughter, 52, of Cleveland, TN passed away on August 17, 2015 in a Cleveland Hospital. He was born on September 2, 1962 to Ellis and Doris Laughter. He was a lifelong resident of this area, owning to cash advances, a bonding business, and several rental properties. Ellis was always known to be someone who would help anyone in need.

He is preceded in death by his father Ellis Bush Laughter; brother Virgil Laughter; grandparents: Martha Evelyn Douglas, Walter Mason, Edna Earl Pinkey, Ida Waters; and uncle Bill Mason.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 30 years, Julie Laughter; son E.J. Laughter (America); mother Doris Bates, brothers Claude Laughter (Ruth) and Larry Bush (Sandra); stepbrothers: Batesy Bates (Katherine) and Jackie Bates; stepsister Terrie Lynn Bates. In addition to these, he leaves behind a special friend Billy Ledford and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday August 20, 2015 at Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. The family will receive friends from 10:30am to 1:30pm prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will follow the service at Benton Memorial Gardens with Jimmy Cooley, Brandon Cooley, Anthony Price, Billy Ledford, Brian Marshall, Claude Laughter, and Brandon Prince serving as pallbearers.
