Ellen Jean Mcspadden

Ellen Jean McSpadden, 94, of Cleveland, TN, passed away February 7, 2023. Born December 29, 1928, to the late Oscar George Rogers and Hallie Allorah Friar Rogers, in Chattanooga, TN. Ellen Jean was a faithful member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and the Agape Sunday School Class at Wesley Memorial. She proudly served with the church mission projects. Ellen Jean retired from Central Service Association. She was a 1947 graduate of BCHS and a lifetime fan/supporter of BCHS sports. Ellen Jean was recently inducted into the Bradley County Sports Hall of Fame. She enjoyed attending events with her great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband to whom she was married to for over 57 years, Julian Henry McSpadden; sister, Mary Elizabeth Rogers Moore; brothers, Edward Leighton Rogers and Tommy Rogers; nieces & nephews, Alice Ayers Rogers, George Calvin Rogers, and Bobby Wayne Rogers.

Survived by her sister, Martha Sue Rogers Brown; nieces & nephews, Sarah Katherine Brown Ownby, Allorah Lee Rogers Duke, James Leighton Rogers, and Donald Ray Rogers, Glen Edward Rogers, William Stephen Rogers, and Daniel Lee Moore; over 20 great nieces & nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM, Thursday, February 9, 2023, Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 3405 Peerless Rd NW, Cleveland, TN 37312.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 10, 2023, Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Rouse officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens with pallbearers Stephen Ownby, David Ownby, Glen Rogers, James Rogers, Brandon Nations, and Todd Torbett. Honorary pallbearers will be Agape Sunday School Class at Wesley Memorial United Methodist, Bryan Ownby, Nurses at Garden Plaza, Daniel Moore, Donald Rogers, William Rogers, Randall Ownby, and Billy Duke.
