Edwina "Eddie" Kolb

Edwina “Eddie” Kolb, long-time resident of Signal Mountain, passed away Sunday, June 4th surrounded by her family at home.

Eddie was born in Maryville, TN, graduated from Walland High School, and, after raising her children, went back to school attending University of Tennessee, Chattanooga and completing her BA in Journalism from Western Kentucky University. She held several public relations and marketing positions and wrote for multiple publications and journals, eventually returning to the Chattanooga area where she retired with her husband, Henry, and her dog Murphy, her ever present companion and protector.

In addition to her first priority of her kids and family, Eddie was interested in a wide variety of subjects and deeply explored many of them, including genealogy, politics and women’s issues. Eddie was a wonderful cook, and her love language was one of feeding her family and friends. She curated a beautiful home, and was talking about ideas on how to make her guest rooms more comfortable in the days before she passed.

Preceded in death by her mother Betty Ridings and her father Ernest “Stutt” Ridings, she is survived by her husband, Henry; children, Tracy, Chris, Quincy, Logan and Nathan, their significant others Rick, Mamie, Jenny and Luis, grandson Chris and many other family members and friends who loved her.

Over the last year Eddie received over 100 units of blood. In lieu of flowers, the family requests blood or monetary donations to their local blood bank.

Eddie’s memorial service will be held June 17, at Northside Presbyterian at 5 p.m.
