Edward Lee Hyde

November 24, 1948 — January 17, 2022

Edward Lee “Fido” Hyde, 73, of Niota went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 17, 2022. Eddie was born in Athens, Tennessee on November 24, 1948 to the late Walter and Mary Ardell Hyde.

Eddie served in the United States Army. After leaving the service he worked At Athens products. After retiring from Athens products, he served as a deputy for McMinn and Meigs County Sheriff’s Department. He also was the chaplain for North McMinn Fire & Rescue as well as for I-75 Raceway. He was a member of the Good News Singers along with the Walnut Grove Boys. Eddie was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church in Niota, Tennessee.

Along with his parents Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved Bonnie Hyde.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Sherry Hyde; sister & brother-in-law, Kathy and RN Millsaps; daughter, Lisa Coleman of Niota; stepdaughters, Shirley (Kenneth) Hall, Michelle (Ricky) Strickland; stepsons, Clayton (Lindsay) Chamlee, Darron (Shelly) Chamlee, and Daris (Julia) Chamlee; adopted daughter, Twannia (Eric) Hines; his grandchildren, Jessica Long, Louie (Rachel) Bartlett, Benn Chamlee, and Jason Chamlee; great grandchildren, Jase, Levi, and Cooper Bartlett; goddaughter, Angie (Tim) Kyle; his mother-in-law, Shirley Rucker Raby; brother-in-law, Tim (Donna) Rucker; and his brother-in-law, Charles Gunter; his best friends, John Clark, Ivan Goodman, and Barney Chapman; along with a host of extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 7:00 pm at Community Baptist Church in Niota, Tennessee with Pastor Eric Hines, Reverend Ronnie Arwood, and Reverend Ivan Goodman officiating. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 with military honors at Community Baptist Church Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Serving as Pallbearers will be, Ricky Strickland, Louie Bartlett, Travis Millsaps, Bo Millsaps, Travis Newberry, and David Newberry.

In Lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Community Baptist Church and North McMinn Fire & rescue in Memory of Eddie Hyde.
