Edgar Allan Schuelke

Edgar Allan Schuelke 81, of Cleveland TN, passed away November 22, in the care of Hospice, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Alta, Iowa to Edgar and Cordelia Schuelke. Allan received a bachelors degree from Iowa State University. He then went on to serve as a captain in the United States Air Force and USAF reserve. In 1967, he married Susan Patricia Collins and moved to Chicago as a buyer and designer for Sears. They had two daughters, Angela and Debra. In 1983, while serving as vice president of the JH Kellman Corperation, he moved his family from the New York headquarters to Cleveland, Tennessee.
Allan spent his life participating in multiple sports; including football, basketball, track and field, skiing, minor league baseball, and mountain biking,
but he is most well known for his love of tennis. He held multiple state titles. After retiring, he served as assistant tennis coach at Lee University. Upon retiring from coaching, Allan took great pride in continuing to care for the tennis courts as long as he was physically able. He passed away due to Parkinson’s disease and dementia.
Allan is preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Cordie Schuelke and his sister Anne Coykendall. He is survived by his sister Alice Schwene, and daughters Angela and Debra Schuelke,and grandson Austin Schuelke.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 16 at 4 PM at Café Roma, followed by a celebration of life at 5 PM.
