Duvana Thurman Shutters departed this life on November 8, 2019. She was born in Michigan City, Indiana on December 14, 1919. A daughter of the late William L. Thurman and Adelaide Davies Thurman.

Duvana graduated from Notre Dame High School. She was a charter member of St. Jude Catholic Church and a past president of the Ladies of Charity. She received the Apostolic Blessing from Pope John Paul II in March 2000.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett L. Shutters, and children, son, Edward M. (Hank) Shutters, daughter, Donna Marie Clendenen and brother, Lawrence B. Thurman.

Survivors include her children, Roger W. Shutters (Marketa), Mary Duvana Shutters, Brian L. Shutters (Ann) of Chattanooga and son-in-law, William H. Clendenen of Nashville. Seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church Friday, November 15, 2019, at 12:00PM. Visitation will be held at 11:00AM in the sanctuary.

Private burial will be at National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, the Ladies of Charity or your favorite charity.
