Dr. Fae Shobe Logsdon

Dr. Fae Shobe Logsdon, 86, passed away on July 10, 2022 in Cleveland, TN. Fae was born on June 15, 1936, in Mayfield, KY, to the late Alpha Berry and Milburn S. Shobe of Mayfield, KY.

She is survived by her loving and supportive life partner of 34 years, Lela Rae Powell of Cleveland, TN, daughter Donna (Drew) Schilder of Long Beach, CA, sister Sharon (Jerry) Ivey of Union City, TN and 10 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four of her sisters: Janelle Weaver, Dathel Latham, Wanda Newsom, and Joyce Moses.

After graduating from Mayfield High School, Fae completed a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Murray State and received her a Ph.D. in Education in 1979 from National University. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

She spent the majority of her teaching career with the Downey Unified School District, in Downey, CA, mainly as a First-Grade teacher (and retired after 34 years). An excellent and beloved teacher, Dr. Logsdon always had the most beautiful bulletin boards and employed innovative approaches to enhance learning. Passionate about teaching children to read, she was served as a Reading Specialist as well.

An avid and resourceful genealogist and active member of Daughters of the American Revolution. Fae served for 2 years as Regent for the Wild Horse Trail Chapter of the DAR.

She had many hobbies including fishing, weaving baskets, casting silver for jewelry, making candles, playing dominoes and cards, and collecting and refinishing antiques.
